Fleming Island is located in Clay County. It has 3 elementary schools and one high school. The 3 elementary schools are Fleming Island Elementary, Patterson Elementary, and Thunderbolt Elementary. The high school is Fleming Island High School.

Fleming Island does not have a junior high school so students in the 7th and 8th grades will attend either Lakeside Junior High School in Orange Park or Green Cove Springs Junior High School. Which junior high school will depend on where one lives. Generally, anyone who lives south of County Road 220 will attend Green Cove Springs Junior High School and those who live north of County Road 220 will attend Lakeside Junior High School.

Elementary schools start at 8:30 am. The junior high starts at 9:30 am and the high school starts at 7 am. School buses are available and based off of the distance from home to school.

The 2023-2024 school year starts on Thursday, August 10.
